I have had an association with Lorrie for two years as a student of natural horsemanship and as a horse owner client; she is amazing. At our first meeting, I saw her liberty work with her horse, Sky, and I asked Lorrie if she had formal training in dance. She was surprised at my question and said yes. Lorrie’s movement, balance, communication, and finesse with Sky demonstrated expertise as a horseman and dexterity of movement as a dancer.

She worked with a two year old gelding that my daughter owned and kept at home. The first issue she had to address was trailer loading. She had Encore loading in no time. I witnessed her working with several other horses on this same issue and her approach is infallible. Not only has her instruction been successful in each case, but it teaches more than just loading. She uses principles of natural horsemanship as the basis of her instruction and these principles can be extended to learn any skill at any level.

She continued to work with Encore, teaching groundwork and starting him under saddle. As a student, I have learned from Lorrie’s instruction and I have enjoyed her method of communication so much; Lorrie, through her instruction, builds horse and rider teams. I have applied what I have learned from Lorrie in my communication with our other horses and I feel that I achieve so much more with them. Although I grew up riding horses, I never had any lessons. After a twenty years hiatus from horses, I came back into the lifestyle/sport/hobby as a “show mom.” After my riding buddy (my daughter) left Corpus Christi for College Station, it was through Lorrie’s support and direction that I continued to explore horsemanship. Lorrie is a natural with both horses and people. Perhaps her greatest expertise is in instilling confidence in both and understanding each as an individual.

My husband and I have known Lorrie for several years and, over the years, have discovered what a knowledgeable and talented horsewoman she is. As you see by her experience write-up, she has studied with a wide variety of natural and traditional trainers and continues to expand and improve her horsemanship.

Not only can she help you with your horse and your riding, she can even help you choose a horse that is right for you ! We know several of her horse/owner matches and they have become perfect partners!

Lorrie works with horses to correct problems, train in different disciplines and to just put on some ‘miles’. My young horse needed to be ridden in different places and to have widened experiences so I asked Lorrie to help me by working with him for a couple weeks. She did an excellent job by riding him in many different situations (some stressful) and even took him to the beach!

Lorrie works with riders of different skill levels adjusting the lesson to fit the needs and goals of the rider. She has developed a system to help riders that have confidence issues. I am currently taking lessons with Lorrie to improve my riding and my confidence level.

Lorrie can indeed be considered an all-around trainer for horses and people.

I think Karma dictates that I must have done something right in order to have found Lorrie to help me with my horsemanship. It must have been really right! We met by accident, but her patience with me and her understanding of both human and horse nature had me begging her to take me on as a client. I was a new horse owner, had come off a couple of times and had developed lots of fear issues that overshadowed my dreams of horses. She patiently helped me work through them and I've gone from panicking at the thought of a canter to having it my preferred gait and working on collected take offs. Absolutely amazing!! Instead of just wanting to stay on top of the horse, I now worry about correct form, leg yields, riding without a bridle, liberty work and having my horse have fun with me. I don't realize how far I've come until I talk to someone else who's not making progress and becoming disenchanted with their horses. Lorrie made it seem easy by encouraging me to always push myself one step further on the path to true horsemanship. Thank you doesn't seem like enough for the understanding and respect I now have for my horses, and I think they appreciate the genuine communication we have together.

Julia
