Training

Using the principles of Natural Horsemanship in combination with the appropriate use of traditional training and schooling techniques Lorrie works with horses in a way that encourages the horse to become an enthusiastic partner for their rider.

Lorrie works with all breeds of horses, in all disciplines of riding and at all levels of training. Training Sessions run from 45-min. to 2-hrs, with the duration of the session being dependent on the horse’s frame of mind, ability to continue learning and Lorrie finding the right positive experience for the horse to conclude the session.

Lorrie strongly encourages all of her clients to come and watch the training sessions and at the appropriate time to become part of the training. This helps her clients learn to work with their horse on their own. Building the confidence and skill necessary to continue their horse’s development when it goes home.

Colt Starting & Foundation Training

While Lorrie, like most competent “colt starters”, is capable of having a colt riding within a very short period for demonstration or competition purposes, this is not the best way to instill the trust, communication and confidence a young horse needs to build a future partnership with its rider.

With this in mind Lorrie offers a Colt Starting and Foundation Training block of no less the 20 sessions (1 month). In this time the colt is not simply started, but a foundation of communication, trust and confidence is forged. This foundation becomes the base of all future riding regardless of discipline.

As mentioned in the training section above, Lorrie strongly encourages all of her clients to come and watch the training sessions and at the appropriate time to become part of the training; allowing them to continue their horse’s development after it goes home.

Riding Lessons

Lessons are available for students of all ages and levels of riding experience. Lesson horses are available, but clients are encouraged to bring their own horses. This allows the horse and rider to be in training simultaneously.

Students are not just taught to ride, but they are also taught proper safety procedures and are provided with knowledge of how to evaluate their horses frame of mind and readiness to ride before ever setting foot in a stirrup.

Confidence Building & Fear Make Over's

Unfortunately there are far to many riders and horse enthusiasts who have significant fear issues due to a bad experience or injury. In many of these cases the bad experience or injury was due to improper training of the horse or rider and in some cases just a freak accident. Regardless of what caused the fear, it is very sad thing when a rider or horse enthusiast can no longer enjoy their passion.

There are few things Lorrie loves more in life than helping people work through their fear and seeing them return to their passion. If you have a fear issue, Lorrie will work with you in a step-by-step self-paced program to rebuild your confidence.

Having been there herself after a riding accident Lorrie understands how it feels and knows the necessary steps to to help you find your way back.
